Kim Blackwell
Kim BlackwellExecutive Director/Programmer
Kim was born in BC but raised in New Brunswick. After high school Kim went to Ontario where she studied Interior Design for 3 years and then made her way out west. Arriving in North Vancouver being a broke 21 year old in need of a job to pay rent, she took a job on one of the local ski mountains. What was supposed to be a seasonal job turned into working full time year round. Working on the mountain happily suited her outdoor lifestyle and love of cross-country skiing, hiking, biking and swimming. She worked in the Nordic area of Cypress Mountain running the ticket office, guest services, ski school programs and helping in all aspects of the operation. After almost a decade it was time to get out of the city with only 2 requirements: a ski mountain & a body of water. This brought her to Black Creek where she has resided for the past 16 years with her husband and daughter. She returned to work in design, working for a local cabinet shop designing kitchens, baths, and various commercial & residential projects. Now she has come full circle back into the recreation industry.
Jessie Roland
Jessie RolandOffice Administrator
Raised locally and free range, Jessie grew up on Oakridge Farm with four generations living and farming together. After Graduation from NIC, Jessie went into the Health Care field, working in extended and Special Care with VIHA. After many years of paying her dues working on call and night shifts, Jessie transitioned into an Administration roll at Berwick Comox Valley. Living in Cumberland, Jessie and her husband enjoyed the quirky village community and the endless task of renovating their little miner home. Their ever-expanding hoard of children quickly outgrew the novelty of Village living. They found a beautiful 5-acre property in Black Creek and Jessie quickly filled it with as many animals as she could smuggle past her husband. When the world went into lockdown, Jessie and her family focused on establishing their small farm through growing, processing and preserving everything they were able to produce. With the kids returning to school and their little farm on a routine, Jessie joined the Black Creek Community Association team, working in the office. It was at this time that Jessie and her family first experienced the Black Creek Fall Fair and the true sense of community in the area. When the opportunity of Fall Fair Coordinator was presented, Jessie was elated to take on the role and plans to remain involved for years to come.
